I Couldn’t Punish Him
I have three children, ages 10, 12 and 5. Lately, I have been spending some time trying to teach them about accountability. I sat the older two down a few days ago and talked to them about taking responsibility for their actions. Ever since then, I have started asking them whether they are showing accountability every time they try to blame someone else for their problems. Then, earlier today, my five-year-old did something he wasn’t supposed to and then ran and hid. Without thinking about it, I asked him the same question I had been asking the others. He looked at me with big eyes and said, “But mom, What is Accountability?” I couldn’t punish him. I was laughing too hard!
