Self employed and IVA’s
Many self employed persons in financial difficulties believe that only those in permanent employment can qualify for an IVA, and that self employed persons do not qualify. This is often the first question asked when the self employed take IVA advice.
It is not the case at all. If a self employed person can show a steady source of income, then a qualified Insolvency Practitioner can often put together a proposal which will satisfy creditors.
Obviously, the longer a person has been self employed the better, and if audited accounts are available, then so much the better. So, all is not lost
