R Bet

If he made a mistake, he could end up on the floor of the library with a dagger in his neck.  The soldier was not someone to trifle with.  But what else could he do?  He was telling the truth about his image needing a boost in the Senate.  For some reason people regarded him as weak and untutored in military strategy.  That irritated him because he believed he understood military matters quite well.  Marrying the daughter of First Centurion Gaius Trebellius would silence many tongues.  It was brilliant.  R Bet would gain instant respect.  Best of all, as time passed, he could force the centurion to support him on the Senate floor.  But first he would gamble.  This was no time for timid actions.
