Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a chronic disease of the skin. It sometimes affects the joints. Usually it consists of red and scaly patches on the skin, but there are many types of psoriasis.  The plaques of psoriasis usually occur on elbows and knees – other types affect the feet and hands. The cause of psoriasis is unknown, but it is thought to be mostly genetic, but stress does play a role. There are many treatments that can be used for psoriasis, but as it is a chronic recurrent skin condition, psoriasis is a challenge to treat and the treatments available are most symptomatic and cosmetic.
